Brothers in Arms
When I set out to work with Colten Moore on the book about his life, I had little interest in motorsports, the X Games, or extreme sports whatsoever. I had no idea what a holy man was, or a flying squirrel, or a volt—names for just a few of the tricks Colten and Caleb Moore regularly pulled on quads and snowmobiles. And even though I can describe those tricks now—and, indeed, write about them—I’ll make a confession: I’m still not a fanatic of extreme sports.
To me, that’s not what this book is about. It’s the story of a family—from the dust of Texas—who had no business flying, but did anyway. And when everything went wrong—when they lost more than they ever imagined they could—they persevered and pushed on, together. That’s Colten’s story—a story, I think, anyone can appreciate.
